The most important thing for your cacti and succulents is the soil, the substrate in which they live. The secret is to have a substrate that can store water and release it slowly while being permeable to prevent waterlogging.
This is a convenient base mixture which is suitable for many cacti.
The balanced composition of my used and proven base mix includes:
Composition of perlite, expanded clay, gravel, seeding soil, fine coconut soil, raw clay, kieselguhr, vermiculite, zoelith,Charcoal.
Lava: Vurcan rock for relaxation.
Gravel: for loosening up and for stability of the plant.
Perlite: to increase the air permeability and better drainage of water to avoid waterlogging.
Plant expanded clay: for stabilisation, water and nutrient uptake, low salinity, light mineral component.
Sound: for water storage and slow release of moisture. Also a good visible moisture indicator, especially good to see on clear pots.
Growing soil: unfertilised, steamed organic content.
Fine coconut earth: from the fibres of the coconut shell, airy, loose, does not harden, with anti-mould effect, stores water.
Diatomaceous earth: stabilising, biocidal biological effect, regulates ph values.
Vermiculite: for loosening, has important trace elements, high nutrient buffering.
Charcoal: to prevent infections and diseases.
After transplanting please wait at least one week and then pour. Then small wounds have healed at the roots, so that no rot at the roots forms.
Fertilise at the earliest after 3 weeks.
